Madonna has broken her silence and returned to social media for the first time since being hospitalised, and has confirmed the future of her tour.
The 64-year-old was hospitalised earlier this month, after being found unresponsive, with reports claiming she was ‘vomiting uncontrollably’.
The Material Girls icon was rushed in an ambulance for treatment, with doctors discovering she had contracted a serious bacterial infection, but was thankfully later confirmed to be back home and surrounded by her loved ones.
A previous statement confirmed that her 40th-anniversary tour was also being put on hold, and she has since shared an update in a length Instagram post.
The Vogue singer wrote: ‘Thank you for your positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement.
‘I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.
‘My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.
‘My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.
‘I also didn’t want to let down the people who have worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.’
She continued: ‘My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can!
‘The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe.
‘I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M.’
The star also shared a selfie to her followers, which was greeted with love and support from celebrities and fans alike.
This comes after she was seen for the first time strolling around New York.
The singer teamed navy shorts and a navy t-shirt with oversized sunglasses and a chic floppy hat as she went about her day walking with a friend.
Journalist Lauren Conlin posted the video captioned: ‘Madonna sighting!’
She added: ‘Guess who we saw out and about today looking great.’
