British pub where famous A-Listers once performed set to reopen as live music venue with themed hotel rooms | The Sun

A HUGELY popular pub where music legends used to perform is set to reopen following a cash injection from the Government.

After being closed for nine years, The Crown in Birmingham will soon be welcoming punters back through its doors.

Set on the corner of Station Street and Hill Street, the city centre pub was a launch pad for world-famous musicians including Black Sabbath, UB40, and Led Zeppelin.

Despite its musical accolades, the pub closed its doors in the middle of 2014 after the site was sold to developers.

But plans to transform the derelict pub into a live music venue are well underway.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Birmingham was awarded £300,000 from the Government's Community Ownership fund.

It is believed some of the money will go towards transforming the pub where Ozzy Osbourne used to play.

But instead of reopening as a pub, The Crown will become a live music venue with a bar and several themed hotel rooms.

In a post on social media, fans have called for Ozzy Osbourne to open the venue himself.

While there is no firm date for the reopening, locals are already excited about the news.

This isn't the only pub that has received celebrity endorsement in recent years.

A string of pubs across the country are owned by Hollywood A-listers.

I recently visited a small pub in London called The Grapes after I discovered it was co-owned by actors Sir Ian McKellen and Sean Mathias.

I headed to the pub on a Monday night so I could take part in the pub's weekly quiz.

While Sir Ian had been known to host the quiz himself from time-to-time, he wasn't there on this occasion.

But that didn't scupper my evening, I had a great time dining on pub grub and testing my general knowledge.

If you're a fan of traditional pubs, fun quizzes, and the Lord of the Rings, then it's definitely worth a trip.
