My mum had a severe reaction to her first vaccine dose

DEAR DEIDRE: MUM had a severe reaction to her first Covid vaccine and I am frightened about her getting the second jab.

She’s 42 and I’m her 21-year-old son.

Mum took to her bed after her first jab and things got so bad I called an ambulance. They thought she had developed a blood clot.

In hospital, they found she had suffered from a reaction to the jab.
But in addition to that, she had a heart issue.

She’s had that put right now and has had notification to go for her second jab. But we’re both scared she’ll get sick again.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your mum needs to get the best advice possible by talking with her GP and her consultant.

Reactions like the one she had are very rare.

In the meantime, you can find the latest information and guidance about the vaccine and possible side effects on nhs.uk.
