The shopping company Klarna reveals that sales for Espadrilles spiked by a huge 53 percent in the past week. This comes after the Duchess of Cambridge was seen wearing a pair when out with her family. The shoes are proving to be hugely popular among many celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez in her most recent Instagram post.

Espadrilles are now a staple fashion item in celebrity wardrobes with many of the women in the Royal Family, as well as Kate Middleton, being a fan of the shoes for years.

Kate was recently pictured wearing wedge espadrilles paired with a beautiful, blue dress when out with her family this Summer.

Online searches for the perfect summer shoe spiked by 170 percent as a result of this picture, just in time for the British summer heatwave.

Klarna reported the huge wave of attention towards the shoes, after they experienced a huge spike in sales using their unique buy now, pay later scheme.

The comeback of the Espadrilles for summer will be popular with the current heatwave, especially if the Duchess of Cambridge is seen flaunting a pair.

Klarna found that Gen Z (18-24 years old) shoppers spiked the biggest increase in sales at 52 percent.

Gen X (41-55 years old) followed behind with a 29.8 percent increase in sales week on week.

The shoes are elegant, laid back and perfect for a day out or a night on the town.

This is why they are popular with both celebrities and royals season after season, because they can be used for all occasions.

All royals from Kate Middleton to Meghan Markle have been seen wearing them at some stage.

Sophie, the Countess of Wessex has also styled the fashionable shoes, as has Queen Letizia of Spain.

Meghan Markle wore a pair of Espadrilles when in Cape Town with Prince Harry in 2019.

She wore them with a simple monochrome wrap dress and looked incredible.

The Duchess of Sussex also wore them when pregnant on her Australia and New Zealand tour the previous year.

Kate Middleton will often wear a pair of Espadrilles when attending the Chelsea Flower Show, as they are very comfortable for walking around.

Similarly, the Countess of Wessex wore a pair at the Royal Norfolk County Show.

They can be used in a more glammed-up scenario, as well as for a more casual look.

Many Britons will be dying to own a pair of the royal ladies’ favourite pair of wedge heels as places and venues all across the country are finally reopening.

Most online shops will be increasing their supply of Espadrilles to accommodate the growing demand as reported by Klarna.
