The FIFA Women’s World Cup is nearing the end, as England face Spain in the final on Sunday 20 August, as they look to become World Champions for the first time.
Fans are eager to see if England's The Lionesses can do the same as the European Championships last year but away from the pitch, the team has teamed up with high street giants Marks and Spencer as the official tailor of the England senior women’s team.
Last year, manager Sarina Wiegman was spotted in an £80 suit from M&S, who are The Lionesses' official sponsor, for each of the team's matches, causing sales of the trouser and blazer combo to soar by 140%.
The success of Sarina's minimalist tailoring combined with M&S’ longstanding relationship with British football (they became the official suit supplier of the England senior men’s team back in 2007), meant the launch of a beautifully tailored womenswear collection was a no-brainer for M&S.
Designed in-house, the range is full of versatile tailored pieces that have been re-imagined to suit modern women, the England women’s team will be wearing the collection throughout the tournament – not to mention in their official team shot.
Alex Greenwood, who plays in the left-back position, styled her Tailored Blazer, £89 here, with the Pleat Front Relaxed Trousers, £55 here, and the Ribbed Crew Neck Cropped Top, £22.50 here, for an effortless high-low combination that’s both relaxed and elegant.
Alex was also photographed wearing the Relaxed Bomber Jacket, £89 here, as part of her ensemble, showing that a simple switch of a jacket can change your whole look from a classy, elegant style into a more relaxed and cool vibe.
Also featured in the collection are right-back player Lucy Bronze and defender Jessica Carter, who both showed off the collection’s minimalist style with a combination of fitted jackets and straight leg trousers, pairing them with the Tailored Waistcoat, £49.50 here, and Ribbed Scoop Neck Cropped Top, £19.50 here, to create an ultra modern twist on traditional tailoring.
Maddy Evans, Director of Womenswear comments; “We’re incredibly excited and honoured to be dressing the talented and inspiring England Women’s Team on their journey to this year’s most talked about tournament. We wanted to ensure the collection delivered on style and versatility, creating timeless pieces with individual styling was at the forefront of our minds and something that I believe underpins the whole collection. The styling options – dressing the pieces up or down – are endless!”
The collection combines style and comfort, with an easy-to-wear tonal colour palette of navy and white that makes it perfect for integrating into your existing wardrobe.
Pieces like the luxe Satin Shirt, £29.50 here, that comes in both white and navy, and the Ribbed Scoop Neck Cropped Top, £19.50 here, are both guaranteed to become a wardrobe staple thanks to their effortless and easy to wear design.
If you’re currently feeling the menswear trend that’s doing the rounds, classic items like the Tailored Waistcoat, £49.50 here, and the Tailored Blazer, £89 here, are absolute must-haves for a refined, tailored look that pair perfectly with the range of fitted trousers featured in the collection.
