Iceland has pledged to freeze the price of its own-brand turkeys ahead of the festive season.
The news comes as ongoing issues with supply chains and the outbreak of avian influenza have led to a 32 per cent price increase in prices at other UK supermarkets.
However, Iceland has ensured shoppers it will not be doing the same, reports The Liverpool Echo.
The supermarket is guaranteeing turkeys for customers this year by bringing back its popular Turkey Insurance, which can be applied for online before Friday, November 18.
Iceland’s affordable range of frozen turkeys starts at £10 and the entire range will be available to buy online and in-store from Monday, November 14.
To guarantee a Christmas turkey, customers will need to create an Iceland account on www.Iceland.co.uk by Friday, November 18 and look out for an email with all the details on how to secure their turkey and delivery slot up until December 18.
Richard Walker, managing director at Iceland Foods, said: “As a cost of living initiative to support our customers ahead of Christmas we’ve been working hard for months to ensure that everyone can buy their Christmas dinner at a low price.
“Recent news has suggested there’s been price increases on frozen turkeys as the outbreak of avian flu takes hold; we will be freezing our prices and will do until Christmas.
To guarantee a turkey in time for Christmas customers must register for an Iceland account online and ensure their marketing preferences are turned on to receive emails to ensure they receive their Turkey Insurance information.
