The Elder Statesman Cooks Up Elevated Kitchen Uniforms for FW23

Los Angeles-based label The Elder Statesman knows how to have fun, making relaxed silhouettes and vibrant hues its trademark. For Pre-Fall 2023, founder Greg Chait and Creative Director Bailey Hunter took antics to their hometurf, commanding the West Coast in a laidback surf offering for the ocean-lover within you.

The Elder Statesman takes a distinct approach for Fall/Winter 2023, cooking up co-ed garments in its own chef’s kitchen — an imaginary fortress often cited by TES. This season, the brand stepped into the background of an androgynous cookhouse alongside Paris-based chef and artist Alix Lacloche.

Taking inspiration from international culinary recipes, cashmere sets represent the duo’s “peanut butter and mindfulness” formula and feature a tan construction with splotches of color. In reality, the ingredients consist of Japanese bread, peanut butter spread, and nutrient-dense supplements. Elsewhere, patchwork robe coats reflect the decadent nature of handmade cookies, while crotchet dresses receive dangling fringed detailing matched with lollipop-encrusted tophats.

The Elder Statesman’s multi-colored knitwear stands strong across the collection, previewing customary cardigans and maxi skirts escorted by checkered tote bags for your next grocery run. Striped ensembles and knitted shirting establish a new kitchen uniform, while fuzzy collared pullovers are paired with holographic visors and garlic necklaces kept handy for any impending dish.
