Porsche Design to Auction Chronograph and Rebuilt 1972 911 as 50th Anniversary Grand Finale

Porsche Design is bringing its 50th Anniversary celebrations to a close with a special auction package, including a rebuilt 1972 911 S 2.4 Targa and a matching Chronograph 1.

Auctioned by RM Sothebys in New York, the lot includes a one-off 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa “50 Years of Porsche Design Edition”, which has been completely rebuilt in “close-co-operation” with Porsche Classic with a “Porsche Design 911 edition” paint job of black with satin platinum accents.

The matching Chronograph 1 – Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa edition is based on the original F.A. Porsche-designed watch, which was the first product released by Porsche Design and the first black-coated watch. However where this unique example differs is the winding rotor, which replicates the iconic five-spoke “Fuchsfelge” wheels used on the car.

Bidding opens at 12:00 on November 29th, ending on December 14th with a high estimate of $375,000 USD.
