Jonnie Irwin spoils his children with 'amazing' home transformation

Jonnie Irwin treated his kids to an epic Jurassic jungle adventure in their own home as he gave them a weekend to remember.

The former A Place In The Sun presenter, 49, revealed in November he could only have ‘months to live’ after lung cancer spread to his brain and became terminal.

Since then, the doting dad-of-three has been living life to the fullest and making the most of every minute, and over the weekend, he shared a series of snaps showing him and his sons enjoying their time camping in a jungle set up in their own home.

He wrote: ‘Got in to find my garden doom had been transformed to a jungle! Full camp was set up with tents and sensory toys and objects.

‘Needless to say, we didn’t get to sleep til late. The boys loved it. All set up and taken away the next day. Thanks very much @darkskysleepovers.’

There were plenty of dinosaur toys around the room, with three tents and an epic Jurassic backdrop setting the scene for an epic time.

Dark Sky Sleepovers – who specialise in ‘bespoke sleepover parties’ – replied to his post and thanked Jonnie for getting them involved.

The company’s account commented: ‘Such a pleasure to meet your lovely family and bring our Jurassic jungle to life for you❤️ 🦕 I’m so pleased you had fun – thank you so much for letting us come and set up for you all, Katie 🙂’

‘Keep making amazing memories ❤️,’ wrote a follower, while another fan added: ‘This looks superb. Kinda beats a cardboard box and a blanket 👏. I bet dad loved it as much as the boys?’

Jonnie is yet to tell his children about his diagnosis, admitting it would be ‘horrible news that they’d have to get their head around’ so he wants to ‘bury our heads in the sand for as long as possible’.

Earlier this weekend, Jonnie – who shares sons Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica Holmes – enjoyed an evening out on the red carpet.

Alongside his former Escape to the Country colleague Nicki Chapman, Jonnie made an appearance at Saturday night’s First Time Buyer Magazine Awards.

The evening saw the ‘prestigious’ Jonnie Irwin Legacy Award being honoured to SO Resi Education for their work in teaching the next generation of first-time buyers about how to get on the property ladder.

Speaking fondly of the evening, Jonnie said: ‘Congratulations to all the winners at the @firsttimebuyermag Awards yesterday there was some very impressive winners and runners up.’

‘We also raised an incredible amount of money for our nominated charity @stoswaldsuk with a couple of super generous individual bids- you know who you are and thankyou so much,’ he added.

‘Well done to Lynda Clarke and all of the team and props to the legend @nickichappers for another sterling job as ever. X’
