AMBUSH SS23 Pre-Collection Is Inspired by Tokyo's Endless Evolution

AMBUSH is gearing up for the release of its Spring/Summer 2023 with its pre-collection. The capsule sees creative director Yoon Ahn take inspiration from the city she has called home for the past two decades.

From the wide range of looks intermingling with the mixture of cultures, the city of Tokyo has seen endless evolution over the years. The SS23 pre-collection continues to bring forward Ahn’s futuristic and eclectic vision that stems from the electric district of Shibuya. Always staying true to her ethos of comfortable wearables for the streets and for home, most of the styles are designed to be unisex and feature an oversized silhouette. Tracksuits jackets and pants are loose fitting with elastic and nylon, while mechanical shirts provide a baggy workwear aesthetic to the collection.

The collection continues to bridge sportswear with denim to bring a hybridization of styles. A key highlight of the colelction is the classic motorbike rider jacker, reimagined in denim. The AMBUSH kimono jacket is also reworked with denim. Bowling and long-sleeve t-shirts feature vivid and nostalgic Y2K graphics inspired by the rave and house culture that gave Shibuya its reputation for being the epicenter of the genre in Japan. Unisex cargo pants and down jackets are prominent additions to the ’90s inspired aesthetic, mixed in with various textures like denim and khaki with pops of acid bright.

Oversized and dramatic accessories like the huge ball chain chokers and hart padlocks on a classic leather choker give traditional jewellery a updated aesthetic. Functional heart-shaped bags and cross bodies add to the rave culture wearables, while shoes bring a punk retro finish to the outfit. Take a look above at the SS23 Pre-Collection.
