A new trailer is streaming for David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman’s Apple TV sci-fi series, Foundation. Based on stories by Isaac Asimov, the show follows a group of rebels who must defy their longstanding galactic empire in order to save it from its own destruction.
In the second season, a battle looms between Empire, led by Lee Pace’s leader Brother Day, and the Foundation helmed by Jared Harris’ Hari Seldon, an expert in psychohistory, which allows him to predict probabilities of future outcomes.
“The Foundation is a threat to me,” Brother Day says in the trailer.
While a queen is threatening to destroy the Empire from within, the Foundation’s Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics that possess their own ability to psychohistory. The Foundation, meanwhile, has turned towards the Church of Seldon, emboldened by their worship of a Galactic Spirit.
Additional cast members in the mix include Lou Llobell, and Leah Harvey, alongside a support ensemble of Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, Isabella Laughland, Kulvinder Ghir, Ella-Rae Smith, Holt McCallany, Rachel House, Nimrat Kaur, Ben Daniels and Dimitri Leonidas.
Season two of Apple TV’s Foundation hits the streamer on July 14.
In other entertainment news, Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak has announced he’s retiring next year.
