What Sharon Osbourne Told Piers Morgan After Her Last Appearance on 'The Talk'

Piers Morgan is once again speaking his mind. Resigning from ITV’s Good Morning Britain following his plethora of comments regarding Oprah Winfrey’s interview of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Morgan recently put his side of the story in writing. The journalist included his take on Sharon Osbourne’s recent exit from The Talk after she publicly went to bat for him.

What happened with Sharon Osbourne on ‘The Talk’?

The journalist and Osbourne are longtime friends and served together as judges on America’s Got Talent. She tweeted her support for Morgan on March 12 following Oprah’s bombshell interview with the royal couple.

“@piersmorgan I am with you,” Osbourne posted. “I stand by you. People forget that you’re paid for your opinion and that you’re just speaking your truth.”

On March 10, Osbourne and Underwood got into a heated conversation regarding Osbourne’s defense of Morgan, and whether his comments were racist. With the debate escalating, Osbourne vocalized her fear of being depicted as racist for supporting Morgan.

Osbourne received backlash from viewers on social media, prompting CBS to put the show on hiatus for further investigation. On March 12, The Talk co-host posted an apology.

“After some reflection, after sitting with your comments & sitting with my heart I would like to address the discussion on The Talk this past Wednesday,” Osbourne wrote in her statement. “I have always been embraced with so much love & support from the black community & I have deep respect & love for the black community.”

She continued, “To anyone of color that I offended and/or to anyone that feels confused or let down by what I said, I am truly sorry. I panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over.”

Piers Morgan recalled his conversation with Sharon Osbourne after the March 10 episode

Morgan shared his take in an article for the Daily Mail on March 29, alleging that Osbourne was coerced into posting the apology. In a time outline, Morgan detailed the sequence of events that transpired following his comments on the Prince Harry-Meghan Markle interview, including Osbourne’s ousting on The Talk.

“Disgracefully, Sharon was bullied into making a groveling public apology the following day for getting angry with Underwood,” he wrote regarding the days after the March 10 episode. “But of course, this hasn’t placated her woke tormentors from continuing to tear her to pieces. Now, The Talk has been suspended as CBS ‘investigates’ Sharon’s behavior.”

Apparently, Morgan and Osbourne discussed the controversy, with The Talk star revealing that she was being physically threatened.

“She told me tonight she fears they’re trying to get rid of her, and said she’s had to hire extra security at her LA home after being bombarded with death threats,” Morgan wrote under the date of March 18. “This new woke tyranny is as illiberal and dangerous as the fascism it professes to despise.”

Sharon Osbourne is no longer on ‘The Talk’

On Friday, March 26, CBS announced that Osbourne would no longer be a part of the daytime talk show without specifying whether she was resigned or was fired.

“The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” the statement read. “As part of our review, we concluded that Sharon’s behavior toward her co-hosts during the March 10 episode did not align with our values for a respectful workplace.”

Morgan sees his departure from Good Morning Britain and Osbourne’s exit from The Talk as casualties of cancel culture, and being denied their right to freedom of speech.

“Sharon Osbourne’s quit The Talk, driven out for the crime of defending me, a friend she knows isn’t racist, from a co-worker saying I’m racist simply because I disbelieve Meghan Markle,” Morgan wrote. He went on to remark that the real issue is “everyone’s right to be free to express our honestly held opinions, forcefully and passionately if we feel like it. … It’s time to cancel the cancel culture before it kills our culture.”

Osbourne has not commented since news of her departure from The Talk was released.
