Naga Munchetty, 46, has spoken out on her health after sparking concern from her BBC Radio 5 Live listeners yesterday. It comes after the BBC Breakfast presenter suffered from an unfortunately timed coughing fit while fronting her show live on air.

Naga was forced to play a pre-recorded clip when her uncontrollable cough got in the way of her broadcast, while she rushed off air to grab some water.

Naga’s coughing fit didn’t go unnoticed by her listeners, with one fan taking to Twitter to check on her.

Twitter user Melnish Abourt penned: “Naga we are all in our office listening as always, we are all (male/female) fans of you, we worry as you are always coughing, spluttering and loosing your voice..(sic)

“Having drinks of water, reassure us you are OK.”

Fortunately for the worried fan, Naga was quick to provide the reassurance they needed.

The star explained she had just been battling a cold.

Naga replied in view of her 260,000 followers: “Just getting over a cold.

“Thanks for asking! X.”

Fans heard Naga’s voice turning croaky as she struggled to get through her next sentence while asking listeners for their thoughts on Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s claims that businesses had been “mainlining” cheap labour for years before Brexit.

“I would love to hear from you on this,” Naga said, before coughing.

“Excuse me,” she added, as she tried to continue with what she was saying.

“Right, give me a sec, I’m just going to cough,” she continued, before she put her microphone on mute.

Naga returned seconds later telling listeners she was “all good”.

However, she still seemed to sound croaky.

After trying her best to continue, her cough then got the better of her.

“Sorry,” she told listeners.

“Let’s play a clip of Boris Johnson and I can grab a quick glass of water,” the star said.

After the clip featuring the Prime Minister aired, Naga’s voice seemed to have improved.

However, just minutes later, she apologised to listeners again following another cough.

As the show went on, Naga seemed to feel better and spoke more clearly.
