Royal insiders ‘furious’ over Omid Scobie’s Endgame claims Prince William ignored brother Harry’s messages as Queen died | The Sun

ROYAL insiders are said to be furious over claims Prince William ignored his brother's messages as the Queen died.

Omid Scobie made the bombshell new claims in his latest book Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival.

The writer, who is pals with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, said that Wills, 41, ignored his brother's calls as he tried to get to the dying Queen's bedside.

Scobie claimed Harry sent text messages to William asking how he planned on travelling to Scotland – with the intentions of them going together.

But he was said to have heard nothing back – despite there being seats on the private plane used to travel to the Queen's bedside.

The author claims William "clearly didn't want to see his brother" and Harry was left having to find his own way to Balmoral.

Scobie writes: "With no further information from other family members or Palace aides, the Sussexes and their team had to operate in the dark.

"Harry was informed that William had already secured a flight with his uncles Andrew and Edward (and Edward’s wife, Sophie), but he couldn’t get in touch with anyone about joining that flight.

"'It was upsetting to witness,' said a source close to the Sussexes. '[Harry] was completely by himself on this.'"

An insider told the Mirror: “It appears no matter what happens behind closed doors, even in a time of such pain and grief, that where the Royal Family are concerned it will one day emerge.

"Nothing is off limits with William and Kate appearing to be this author’s number one target. It only takes a few months for the knives to come out again and the wounds to be opened up.”

Scobie also wrote of William: “He feels he has lost Harry and doesn’t want to know this version of him.”

Harry was also allegedly kept in the dark about his grandmother's health until he "received a call from an unknown number" – which turned out to be from his father.

And it's claimed Charles told Harry to travel to Scotland without Meghan, to which he agreed after it was confirmed Kate would also not be in attendance.

Scobie wrote: "Charles had cited 'protocol', but the reality was that Kate chose to stay back to pick up the children from their first day at a new school.

"'They just didn’t want Meghan there,' said a former Palace aide. Meghan, a friend added, 'could sense she wasn’t wanted.'"

An initial serialisation of the book was published in People magazine yesterday afternoon.

In the book, it was also claimed the brothers' relationship is "beyond repair" as Wills views his brother as a "defector".

The author says there's "no going back" for the brothers and "absolutely nothing has changed" in their relationship since the release of Harry's memoir Spare earlier this year.

In it, he writes: "I was talking to a source quite early on in the process, and they called Harry a ‘defector’ and said that was William’s view.

"These were two men who once upon a time were firmly aligned in their outlook. One of them had to move on to also protect the crown."

It comes as Netflix's the Crown is set to cause fresh chaos as the sixth and final season of the series is set to hit screens today.

The series notably features the event that shook the British monarchy to its core — the death of Princess Diana on August 31, 1997.

Elizabeth Debicki returns as Princess Diana, with the show facing a slew of criticism.
