    HAVE PEOPLE EVER WON?

The fast food chain says it’s given away “millions of prizes” to “millions of people” in the UK over the years.

“In 2018, a whopping 8,006,175 prizes were claimed, including 6 Mini Coopers, three £100k prizes, two £25k prizes and a Universal Holiday.”

Maccies also has a website where there’s a daily update on how many of each prizes have been won.

That means you can check what’s still up for grabs before you tuck into your next meal.

    MONOPOLY COVID CHAOS

The game was due to return in March 2021 but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The cancellation means that more than 200million Monopoly game pieces had already been printed and dated.

That means customers will have to check the dates on McDonald’s website to make sure they don’t miss out on a chance to bag a prize.

In total, the game has been delayed for two years due to restaurant closures during the pandemic.

WHAT DEALS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE APP?

Every Monday, the app has a host of deals available to cash in on.

They’re exclusive to the platform too, so you won’t be able to find the prices anywhere else.

This week you can get a Big Mac for just 99p, usually the fast food favourite would cost £3.69 so hungry deal hunters can save £2.70.

You have to order it on the app and claim it from your closest McDonald’s by 11.59pm today.

You can also get things like a £1.99 breakfast roll, roughly 80p cheaper as it’s normally £2.79, before 11am.

Previously, you could pick up a McMuffin for 99p too.

But the specific food item on offer can be subject to change each week, so next week there could be a totally new item on offer for one day only.

HOW DO PRIZES COMPARE TO PREVIOUS YEARS?

In 2019, the last time McDonald’s ran Monopoly, £100,000 in cash was also the top prize available for four winners.

Like this year, all you had to do was collect both dark blue properties.

One difference this year is that there’s no car up for grabs.

Last time, there was an offer of a Mini Cooper for 20 lucky winners who collected all three green properties.

Plus you could have won £2,000 holiday spending money and a PS4 console.

One of the most likely prizes you might have won in the last game was a £50 voucher for Boohoo as 18,000 were available.

EXPLAINED: HOW DOES THE MCDONALD’S MONOPOLY WORK?

Customers can collect game pieces on qualifying McDonald’s products, including the co-ordinated road names like Mayfair and Fleet Street, just like you would in the board game.

You will find them as stickers which will appear on the packaging of whatever food or drink you buy from the chain.

Each game piece represents a tile on the Monopoly board which you can pick up for free in the restaurant or play along online – when you collect a set, you get a prize.

Prize-seekers should ignore the dates on this year’s game pieces, as they have been reused from last year’s game that did not go ahead.

Pieces which show a “play until” date of May 4, 2021, will actually be valid until October 5, 2021.

WHY DID MCDONALD’S GET RID OF RONALD MCDONALD?

McDonald’s announced its mascot Ronald McDonald would be taking a hiatus in 2016.

It followed a disturbing craze which saw pranksters jump out at people dressed as spooky clowns.

Some wielded weapons to spread terror and the trend travelled across the globe.

It began in the US but soon took off in the UK, with police declaring it “no laughing matter”.

It is not known if the clown will ever make a full comeback.
