The closest friends and family of this year's Love Island stars had their say on the final last night as they kept viewers updated via social media.

The contestants entrusted their nearest and dearest with the use of their personal accounts which were kept active during this year’s show.

Inside the villa, their usual smartphones are removed in a bid to keep them out of touch with the outside world.

The cast is permitted to use a show-specific mobile to communicate with each other and take selfies for the ITV social media accounts.

Kaz Kamwi’s sister Banji has been running her Instagram since she entered the villa, and last night posted a final gushing message for her sibling, who finished the series in fourth place.

"Thank you to every single one of you who votes, liked or left lovely comments and DMs. We are beyond proud of our girl for making it to the final and the way she carried herself. WE LOVE YOU, KAZ!," she wrote.

"The next post will be from Kaz herself! I know she will be so grateful for the love and support you have shown her! It's been a pleasure, Banji xx."

Kaz finished the series coupled with Tyler Cruickshank, whose friends calling themselves ‘Team Kyler’ have been posting on his behalf.

Last night, they handed the account back, posting: "Didn't quite make it but so proud of how our boy conducted himself in the Villa! Nothing but praise for Tyler getting to the final!

"I would also like to say thanks for the support, the love, the positive comments and all the good vibes you have been sending has been so overwhelming, so thank you so much for that! The next post will be from the main man himself. Thank you, Love Island fans!"

Meanwhile, Teddy Soares’ brother Sidney looked after his account and quickly updated the page when the 26-year-old finished in third place.

"We couldn't be more happy and proud of Teddy. They came 3rd place tonight but will always be number one in our hearts. Teddy has shown the world that he is a cool, calm gentleman," he wrote.

"It's been an absolute pleasure running his account. Thank you for all your incredible support. We never would've got this far without you guys. Soars brothers are officially out, over to you, Teddy."

Teddy finished the show coupled up with Faye Winter, who left sister Jo in charge of her account for the duration of her stay in the villa.

Last night, she posted: "Third place! We can't wait to see Faye ad we can't thank everyone enough for all the support. They will always be the winners in our eyes. They found love and leaving the villa as girlfriend and boyfriend. Ps, we will be ordering Teddy Soares some wellies asap!"

Chloe Burrows' account kept it short and sweet, posting: "We are so proud!"

Liam Reardon’s family shared that they hosted a viewing party to watch the Welshman be crowned this year’s winner.

"THANK YOU! Thank you to everyone who voted. BIG LOVE FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!" they wrote.

While his Love Island other half, winner Millie Court’s dad was quick to share his excitement about the result.

He wrote: "I am lost for words! I have just spoken to Millie. It was beautiful. Thank you all soooo much for your support and votes.”

Millie’s dad was seen posting from her main account during the show’s run when he posted a link to the family’s neon sign business.

Millie Court and Liam Reardon made Love Island history on Monday night as they were crowned winners of the 2021 series.

Viewers also admitted they "knew" Millie and Liam would win the series thanks to the show's "giveaway" theory.

A theory circulated by fans online claims that whichever couple is standing on the host's left-hand side will win the competition, with it coming true six times.
