Aldi to sell boxed piña colada for the bank holiday weekend

It might not be the summer heatwave we were hoping for, but the weather is looking to be a little more promising for the bank holiday weekend.

That can only mean cocktails and park meet-ups with family and friends.

So Aldi have the answer, once again, by releasing boxed piña colada – the most classic summer cocktail.

It’s available to buy from tomorrow (August 25) and, like all good releases from the supermarket, it’s bound to be a popular bank holiday purchase.

Not only that, Aldi claims to be the first supermarket to sell this cocktail in boxed form – which means there’s a new pre-mixed option that’s perfect for picnics.

There’s been a 15.8% increase in sales of boxed cocktails over the last 12 months, so Aldi are tapping into a growing drinks trend.

Being priced at £9.99, you can get 15 servings out of the box, making each glass just 66p.

It’s perfect for socialising on a budget.

The pre-made cocktail has notes of pineapple, coconut and cream – helping you pretend you’re in warmer climes.

The fruity beverage is Puerto Rico’s official national drink, but it’s now loved and revered across the globe since Rupert Holmes’ 1979 hit Escape (The Piña Colada Song).

Now it’s a cocktail you can find in most bars, being a staple and favourite in the drinks world.
