I hate my sales job but I simply can't afford to quit

DEIDRE SAYS: ALTHOUGH I really hate my work, I simply can’t afford to quit.

I’m a 42-year-old woman stuck in a dead-end job in sales. It gives me no satisfaction, has no real prospects, I work long hours and my boss is horrible to me.

As a young girl, I had so many dreams.

I dread switching on my laptop in the mornings. I can’t sleep, I have lost my appetite and it’s affecting my relationship because I’m so moody.

But my husband says I have to stick at it, as we need the money.

I would love to retrain as something else, but I’m starting to think it’s too late for me.
