DEAR DEIDRE: THE relationship with one of my best mates has soured.

We both work for a big garden supplies company and she has been a great friend for six years, along with her younger sister.

I’m 28, she’s 29 and her sister is 27. The three of us used to do everything together, until their mum died in April.

Since then they don’t contact me and hardly reply to messages.

They even asked another friend to look after their dogs despite me offering. I just don’t understand.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is only two months since your friends’ mum died.

That is no time at all for someone grieving the loss of a loved one.

They may need a lot of space and want to mourn privately.

They could have turned to older friends during this time – people who knew their mum well – to help them with cope their bereavement.

Give them time and let them know you are there, if and when they need it.

They will appreciate your support and, in time, I am sure your friendship will return.
