Great British Bake Off’s Noel Fielding’s very artsy children’s names

Noel Fielding has been on our screens for years, so at this point, the 50 year old is pretty much a national treasure. While his Gen Z fans probably know him best for being a presenter on The Great British Bake Off, the majority of his millennial fans, including me, think of him as Vince Noir from the surrealism comedy series, The Mighty Boosh.

Both TV ventures – despite being completely different – have captured his artsy style, so it's no surprise that Noel has been described many times as an alternative icon. But it's not just his professional life that has seen his quirkiness shine through, though. Noel's family life has also taken the same route, especially in terms of his children's names.

For those who don't know, Noel has been with his partner, Lliana Bird since around 2010. The 42 year old is a writer, director, actress, and podcaster, plus the co-founder of charities Help Refugees and the Kindly Collective. In other ventures, she is a successful author, having had her first book, The Mice Who Sing for Sex, published in 2016.

In 2018, the couple announced they were expecting their first child, and during the same year, welcomed a daughter, whom they named Dali after the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Following the birth of their daughter, a source told The Sun that they chose the moniker because "Noel thought the name was a perfect fit."

They also explained that "Salvador has played a big part in his life," with Noel previously stating that his own artwork has been heavily influenced by the artist. "So it’s no surprise to his friends he's named a baby after him. It's a cute name and really suits the tot," they added.

Then, in August 2020, Noel and Lliana revealed they'd had a second child and another daughter. Shortly after the birth, the couple shared that they had named their new baby Iggy, which many believe is an ode to the punk rock musician Iggy Pop.

Like many other celebrities, Noel has decided to keep his personal life relatively private and seldom shares pictures of his two kids online.

However, Lliana has been known to drop artwork done by her children to her Instagram, specifically from Dali, which has proven that the couple picked the perfect name for their daughter.

From avant garde scribblings of Snow White to a sweet interpretation of the Lionesses, it's clear that the Fielding children are inheriting their parent's creative streak tenfold.
