Another award for Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie, who is now Grand Dame Cross of the Order of St Johns

The Duchess of Edinburgh has been invested as a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of St John by The Duke of Gloucester.
Sophie, 58, was given the award by the late Queen Elizabeth II last year.
For the investiture, the Duchess wore a black Suzannah London ‘Evangeline’ dress, which features fitted long sleeves and a high neckline, along with her Christian Dior Mise en Dior Pearl Hoops earrings and black pumps
Sophie has been Grand President of the St John Ambulance since 2004 and was presented with a Bar to the Service Medal to celebrate 15 years of working with them in 2021.
Edward and Sophie, Duke and Duchess of Wessex, were recently made Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh by the King.

For the event, the Duchess wore a black Suzannah London ‘Evangeline’ dress, which features fitted long sleeves and a high neckline in memory of the late Queen Elizabeth
She has previously worn the Suzannah dress tpthe late Queen’s funeral procession in September 2022 and Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2019.
Some have suggested the piece is a reminder of her late mother-in-law.
The royal has been involved with The Order of St John since 2004 and marked her birthday last year by volunteering at an NHS vaccination centre in Surrey as part of her work with St John Ambulance.
She has been highly praised for her previous role as Grand President of St John Ambulance and as a care volunteer for the charity.
The Order of St John, previously headed by the Queen, is a historic Christian charity connected with the St John Ambulance. The Duke of Gloucester is the Order’s Grand Prior.
Around the world, there are five Orders of St John which run programmes, ranging from ambulance corps to schemes for young people, care for the elderly, the disabled, children and the homeless.

They also provide first-aid training, and disaster and humanitarian relief worldwide.
The British Order of St John is an Order of Chivalry of the Crown.
Princess Anne is also involved the Order and holds the title , a Dame of Justice. The late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Gloucester, is a Grand Prior and Bailiff Grand Cross.
