If you’re looking for a healthy lunch or dinnertime recipe but are running short on time, home cook and author of Bored of Lunch Nathan shared an air fryer recipe which was a hit with his 797k followers. Nathan, who runs Instagram account @boredoflunch, said: “These air fryer chicken fajita wraps are only 492 calories for a full wrap. I’ve had it for lunch, I’ve had it for dinner and I’ll have it again.”

The wraps can either be made completely fresh, or you can use shop-bought fajita mix, sour cream and guacamole. “These look quite basic but are tasty as, this recipe will make three full wraps, then cut them in half,” Nathan said.

“You could also skip the wraps and have it with tacos, rice or however you fancy. You can use a fajita mix from the supermarket but I make my own. Air fry for 15 minutes, add guacamole and sour cream, spray and air fry again and that’s it.”

Fans of the Instagram recipe were quick to comment, with Nathan’s video so far amassing 28.8k “likes” and almost 4,000 comments at the time of writing. A user named Dawn said: “You’ve made that look really easy, I will try that.” Becky added: “I want an air fryer now lol.” [SIC]

Method

Mix together the garlic, cumin, paprika, cajun, salt and ground coriander into a seasoning mix and then combine with your chicken, peppers and chilli with oil. You can alternatively use a pre-made spice mix. Make sure the chicken, pepper and chilli are nicely coated.

Air fryer the ingredients at 200C for 15 minutes, shake twice during this time. Remove the ingredients and add them to your wrap. Roll up the wrap and then add it to the same drawer you had the chicken in. Cook again for a further seven minutes, then remove and enjoy.

Are air-fried foods better for you?

Food cooked in an air fryer instead of being fried traditionally in a pan is considered to be healthier due to the amount of oil required to cook them.

According to research by Web MD, air-fried food cuts calories by 70 percent to 80 percent and has a lot less fat. This cooking method might also cut down on some of the other harmful effects of oil frying.
