SHOPPING at a store like Target can be dangerous for your credit card.
Walking down the aisles of home goods, discount clothing, electronics, and snacks means you’ll be tempted at every corner to throw something you don’t need in your shopping cart.
A target guru who goes by @targetwhileblack on TikTok said there’s a way to save money when you check out at the chain store that most people don’t know about.
In the clip, she explained:
“You see how I’m at self-checkout and it says: ‘My own bag.’ So, I click this.”
The screen then prompted her to enter how many bags she had. She selected “one.”

“Then I click apply, and it gives me, ‘My own bag discount.’”
For every bag you bring—and therefore for every bag of the store’s you don’t need to use—Target gifts you five cents back of your total check out price.
In the caption, the woman clarified that you can also apply this discount in the regular checkout lane.
Don’t get carried away, however, as she added that there is a limit to how many bags you can select.
