New York rapper and producer Theravada has released a new project dubbed Xenophon. A follow-up to 2019’s 91-track Xennis Rodman, Xenophon sees Theravada flex his lyrical chops while sprinkling in a smattering of sports references, elevating the unique personal style he’s been molding since 2017’s Xen Griffey.
Clocking in at just under 40 minutes, the brisk 20-song project is produced in large part by Theravada himself, though his 2000 Entertainment cohort Rob Chambers provides a handful of beats along with other co-conspirators like mgkrp, Paul Hares, axpuzzles, DMH, Doof and Benji. Standout tracks include “Minesweeper,” which sees Theravada state he’s “duly humble like Keyon Dooling” over a distorted baseline and the smooth, jazzy sample in the Marlo Demore-featuring “Terminal Window.” Recently, Theravada’s unmissable voice and unique rapping style have also garnered him acclaim from in-the-know industry tastemakers ranging from Hot 97‘s Peter Rosenberg to longtime behind-the-scenes street culture mover and skater ReggieKnows.
