Netflix Acquires Two 'Knives Out' Sequels for Over $400 Million USD

Netflix has officially finalized a deal to purchase the rights for two Knives Out sequels worth $450 million USD.

Variety confirms that the film is set to reunite director Rian Johnson with action star Daniel Craig, who will be reprising the role as detective Benoit Blanc. The first film went on to earn $311.4 million USD on a $40 million USD budget, causing Johnson’s ode to the Agatha Christie novels to create a heavy bidding war between streaming giants like Netflix, Amazon and Apple.

Craig’s schedule suddenly opened up after Danny Boyle’s departure as director of the 25th Bond franchise film, causing a reset to No Time To Die. With a more flexible schedule, he was able to once again be part of Johnson’s murder mystery hit. In a 2019 interview, Johnson revealed that he was unsure whether or not the character of “Benoit Blanc will return” but as of the announcement, fans can now expect the return of the character.
