Britney Spears’ husband Sam Asghari has filed for divorce and sought spousal support, it has been reported.
A divorce petition has been filed, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ between Sam, 29 and Britney, 41.
It had previously been claimed the pair were splitting, with rumours circulating over the last 24 hours, while neither of the pair have commented.
The pair tied the knot in a star-studded wedding last year, as he remained by her side throughout her conservatorship battle.
However, their marriage has now come to an end, with Sam asking for spousal support.
According to the dissolution of marriage petition filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, as seen by the BBC, Sam has asked that spousal support and attorneys’ fees be paid by Britney.
Both Britney and Sam have yet to address the reports publicly of their separation or divorce.
The couple married at Britney’s Thousand Oaks home on June 9 last year in front of a celebrity-stacked guestlist including Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Madonna, after getting engaged the previous September.
Sam recently marked their milestone first anniversary on Instagram with a photo showing off their wedding rings, alongside the message: ‘Happy 1 year to me & my better half.’
He also uploaded a video montage of their big day, with the caption: ‘One year married to the woman of my dreams.
‘Happy anniversary my love.’
However, things have reportedly turned sour since, with TMZ reporting that insiders claimed they had a string of arguments concerning allegations of cheating, with Sam moving out.
Sources told the outlet that he confronted the mum-of-two last week over claims that she had been unfaithful.
The insider said that Sam believed the claims, which led to a huge fight – he is thought to have left their home and is staying in a place of his own.
Since the reports of their marital issues surfaced, Britney has posted on Instagram to reveal she is ‘buying a horse soon’.
Metro.co.uk has approached reps for Britney for comment.
