Steph McGovern was inundated with messages from viewers after she took to Twitter and shared that Steph’s Packed Lunch will be off-air over the summer break. The news comes just days after the Channel 4 presenter revealed she will be setting her alarm back to 3.30am.

The former BBC Breakfast presenter is used to the early mornings but has since made the switch to daytime television for the Channel 4 show, Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The 39-year-old shared the news that her programme is taking a break but later told viewers on Twitter.

Sharing a selfie from inside the Packed Lunch studios, Steph announced that the team were off-air over the summer.

In view of her 413,000 followers, she penned: “And that’s a wrap! Off on our summer break. #stephspackedlunch will be back in September for more laughs at lunchtime.

“Thank you to my amazing team, on and off-screen, for all their graft over the last 10 months.”

Steph was quickly inundated with messages of support from viewers as they shared their disappointment over the news.

One wrote: “Gutted at the summer break as recently discovered the show and fell in love and laughter with it! Have a great summer, he says passive aggressively.”

Another commented: “Oh man. I missed the last show. Been loving this during my work from home lunch break. What on earth will I watch now? Enjoy and see you in September.”

“A big THANK YOU for the past 10 months of great programmes and helping through these difficult times with your lunchtime pals,” a third penned.

While a fourth added: “Great show Steph, you brought a smile to my face many a lunchtime over a challenging few months. Well done to everyone involved in the show.”

Steph’s Packed Lunch will return to viewers’ screens in September.

In the meantime, the presenter will be setting her alarm back to 3.30am this summer, as she takes on a new morning TV role.

The former BBC Breakfast host will be presenting the Paralympics Breakfast Show alongside former Paralympic cyclist and TV host Arthur Williams.

Steph previously used to wake up early to host BBC Breakfast during the week from 6am to 9am.

However, she stepped down from the show in 2020 to spend more time with her partner and baby daughter.

Earlier this week, Steph shared: “My 3.30am alarm clock will be going back on in the summer.

“I’ll be working with Arthur Williams @Arthurvw1986 to host the Paralympics Breakfast Show on @Channel4 #Paralympics.”

Arthur and Steph will head a daily Paralympics Breakfast Show for the long-awaited Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Channel 4 and More 4 will carry live subtitles, and the opening ceremony will have live signing.

Steph’s Packed Lunch returns Monday, September 6, 2021, at 12:30pm on Channel 4.
