Is Rosé from 'RuPaul's Drag Race' Related to Rosé from BLACKPINK?

It’s a wine, it’s the stage name of a BLACKPINK member, and it’s the drag name of a RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant.

Does Rosé, the drag queen, know Rosé from BLACKPINK? How did these performers earn this nickname? Here’s what we know about this different, (but totally not different,) performers.

1 member of BLACKPINK goes by the stage name ‘Rosé’

There are four members in this award-winning K-pop group, but there’s only one Rosé. A singer and dancer raised in Australia, she joined Lisa, Jisoo, and Jennie to perform at Coachella and concert venues across the globe.

Although Rosé is this K-pop idol’s stage name, the singer’s real name is Roseanne Park, (her Korean name is Park Chaeyoung.) Her stage name comes from a version of Roseanne, as she’s sometimes referred to as Rosa, Rosie, Rosalie, Rosina, and Rosalina.

1 contestant on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 13 goes by the stage name ‘Rosé’

Another performer goes by the same stage name. That’s the contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 from New York City. With new episodes debuting each week, this queen is sharing her charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent for a chance to be crowned “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

According to Drag Race Fandom, Rosé from the reality competition series’ stage name has different origins. The website reports that “Rosé comes from her love of rosé wine, and the fact that her favorite color is pink.“ For the first episode of season 13, this character even wore a pink outfit and bright pink hair.

This drag queen is in a girl group herself, (named Stephanie’s Child, a play on Destiny’s Child,) the singers competing on shows like The Voice and America’s Got Talent. Jan, a former contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race is also a member of the group.

Do these Rosés know each other?

It’s unclear if these performers have ever met each other in real life, as they run in pretty different circles. BLACKPINK’s Rosé has been considerably busy, from recording solo music to starring in a Netflix documentary to performing with the other members of the K-pop group.

Rosé, as a New York-based performer, hosts shows across the city, combining elements of traditional drag shows, like lipsyncing, with her live vocals and even her sisters in Stephanie’s Child.

One of the Rosés does know the other, though. Rosé (from RuPaul’s Drag Race) is following Rosé (from BLACKPINK) on Instagram. The BLACKPINK idol doesn’t follow the other Rosé back but, then again, she doesn’t follow anyone on the social media platform.

New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race, some featuring Rosé, premiere on a weekly basis on the television network VH1. Music by BLACKPINK, featuring Rosé, is available on most major streaming platforms.
