With staycations on the rise, the UK's most popular beaches are packed on a rare hot summer's day.

So it's worth trying out the country's wild swimming spots instead, with some just a short drive away from our biggest towns and cities.

Wild swimming refers to swimming in natural waters like lakes and rivers, making it perfect for those living in landlocked parts of Britain.

The Blue Lagoon, Pembrokeshire, Wales

The Blue Lagoon has beautiful blue-green waters. The water here is a bit deeper, so this spot is definitely one for the confident swimmers.
