Guest outraged after spotting frozen supermarket pizza served in big hotel chain – for triple the price | The Sun

A HOTEL guest was left outraged after spotting a frozen supermarket pizza on the dinner menu – for three times the price it should cost.

The Hotel Ibis in the Arcadian in Birmingham generally has positive reviews on Tripadvisor, but one guest was not happy when they discovered how much they were charging for some items of food.

User Katarzyna G wrote their review of the hotel last month, after they were disappointed by the price of the pizzas.

They were however very complimentary of the hotel's breakfast and the staff, particularly Rita.

They wrote: "Lovely staff, especially Rita. Great breakfast.

"The BIG MINUS was the pizza on the menu.

"Hotel serves £4 frozen pizza from the supermarket, Chicago Town – the one with stuffed crust, for £12.95. So disrespectful!"

Sun Online Travel found that the pizza is indeed available online for £4 from Asda, while other supermarkets like Ocado and Sainsbury's charge £4.50.

The hotel's assistant general manager Dayana Kancheva replied to the review, saying they were looking into providing an alternative solution.

They wrote: "Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and for complimenting our team and especially Rita.

Sun Online Travel contacted Ibis for comment.

While no one wants to pay three times as much for a hotel pizza, it could be better than the option Tiktok user @Barfly777 opted for, when he made his own pizza in his room.

The Tiktoker made his own dough within the questionable surroundings of his en-suite bathroom.

In a video, he is seen measuring flour, yeast water and other ingredients on the marble surface next to the sink, with the open toilet in shot behind him.

He uses an empty medicine bottle to measure out the ingredients.

A caption applied over the top of the footage claimed that he adds seasoning to his dough mixture to "cover up the taste of bathroom".

The man then uses a portable stove that he brought to the hotel with him to warm up the dough on both sides, before applying toppings.

Finally, the man lays the pizza out on the bathroom counter, before putting it on a plate and eating it.

While the pizza did admittedly look tasty in the end, a lot of people were unconvinced by the location of his makeshift kitchen.

One wrote: "Everyone who works at hotels is throwing up right now."

A second said: "This is the craziest video I’ve ever seen in my life. Pizza made 1 foot away from the toilet."

A third added: "As somebody who used to work for a hotel, you could not pay me enough to do this."
