British Airways names tennis star Emma Raducanu as their global brand ambassador

BRITISH Airways has named tennis star Emma Raducanu as their global brand ambassador.

The airline confirmed that they will fly the sports player to her tournaments and training across the globe.

This includes travel to the French Open and US Open next year, as well as Masters' events in California and Rome.

The announcement follows the tennis player's amazing win at the US Open in September where she beat Leylah Fernandez in straight sets, and became the first qualifier to ever win a Grand Slam.

And last week, the 19-year-old beat other sports stars including Raheem Sterling and Adam Peaty to win Sports Personality of the Year.

Tom Stevens, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said: “As we look ahead to the world opening up again, we’re excited to be supporting the very best of British talent, Emma Raducanu.

"We couldn’t have been prouder as a nation than when Emma won the US Open. Sport has the power to inspire and unite people all across the globe, so we are delighted to be supporting Emma as she represents Britain and takes on the world.”

Emma added: “British Airways has taken such good care of my team and ever since the US Open and I have felt their support everywhere I have flown.

"To be partnering with such an iconic British brand that can play a big role in my performance makes a lot of sense to me.

"I’m fascinated by aviation and we have some interesting projects planned together.”

The UK’s flag carrier will be Emma’s first British brand partner, who has already announced a £2m deal with Tiffany & Co as well as a deal with Evian.

Having also been dressed in designers including Chanel at the Met Gala and being the latest ambassador for Dior, she has been tipped to become a £1billion athlete.
