DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN I was 14 I was abused by my mother and one of her boyfriends.
I am now 39. It is 25 years on and by the time I had the courage to report it, my mum had died.

Her boyfriend was prosecuted. He was sentenced to eight years’ jail but only served four. Now he is out and I am living on the edge.
Before his release date I asked for him to be restricted from entering my home town but I was turned down because he was no longer considered a risk. The thought of bumping into him or him getting anywhere near my children makes me feel sick. I’m terrified of seeing him and now have panic attacks.
DEIDRE SAYS: This is an awful way for you to live. Contact NAPAC, which helps people who have been sexually abused (napac.org.uk, 0808 801 0331).
It also offers legal advice so you can find out if you can appeal the parole board’s decision.
Contact the Campaign Against Living Miserably (thecalmzone.net 0800 58 58 58) for support and advice on moving forward.
