My pharmacist keeps getting my medication wrong

DEAR DEIDRE: MY pharmacist keeps getting my medication wrong.

Luckily for me, I’m a retired nurse so I know what I need, but what about the next person?

I’m a widow of 67 and I have high blood pressure so I’m on medication for that and other things.

The pharmacy was really good and they deliver to my door, but one time they gave me double the dose, another time they dropped off medication for a different person and now I’ve just had some medication which is clearly out of date.

I don’t want to cause a fuss but what if somebody dies through their negligence?

DEIDRE SAYS: It’s worth flagging up these errors as there will be a procedure in place for complaints.

The company owner or manager may be grateful you’ve highlighted these errors because it may not be so straightforward the next time there’s a mistake.

If they can’t reassure you that they will make the appropriate changes, do take things further by approaching pharmacyregulation.org, 020 3713 8000.
