A 29-year-old man decides to buy his long-suffering girlfriend and his mother matching lingerie in the new series of I Love A Mama’s Boy.
Kim, 26, has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Matt, both from the US, for over three years after meeting on a dating app, and during that time she has been locked in a constant battle for his affection with his mother, 57-year-old Kelly.
In the first episode, which airs on Discovery+, Matt decides to improve his and Kim’s sex life in time for Valentine’s Day by picking out some sexy lingerie for her as a gift.
However, what would be most men’s nightmare is Matt’s saving grace when he asks his mother to help pick out the perfect garment to reignite the intimacy between him and his girlfriend.
‘For Valentine’s Day this year, my mother said she would go and help me get Kim a gift. I want to put a little bit of spark back into my and Kim’s relationship,’ Matt explains. ‘There is some intimacy that has fallen short because we do live with my mother and she [Kim] thinks that my mother sometimes around a little bit too much.
‘If I ask my mother her opinion, I’m going to get a for sure guarantee of a good response!’

During the episode, Kim says trying to prise Matt away from his coddling mother hasn’t been an easy task, as she’s looked to take their relationship to the next level.
‘I don’t want his mother to be his number one,’ she explains. ‘It’s just a lot more challenging than I initially thought it would be.’
Just over a year ago, Matt and Kim’s life together was thrown into turmoil after a fire broke out in their apartment building, forcing them to move in with Matt’s mother. From there, it became apparent to Kim just how close the mother and son duo are.
‘It’s not an ideal living situation because Matt is a total mama’s boy,’ she says. ‘Kelly and Matt are always planning something, whether it’s pedicures or their next vacation; I’m totally the third wheel with them.
Instead of us going out for a date night, he’d rather hang out on the couch drinking his sleepy time tea with his mother.’
While she admits she thinks Matt and Kim are perfect for each other, Kelly is quick to reiterate that she is his number one priority, and that she plans to keep it that way.

‘I think they make a great couple, and I like Kim and I want my son to be happy,’ she says. ‘But in life there is a hierarchy, and I’m right at the top.’
With talk about marriage and taking their relationship to the next level, Matt sets out to improve his and Kim’s sex life.
Filing through the lingerie shop’s hangers, Matt picks out a selection of underwear for his mother to comment on, gauging what she thinks Kim will like.
‘That is certainly spicy,’ Kelly says, remarking on one skimpy one-piece. Approached by the store’s owner, Yve, Kelly confidently explains what the pair are looking for, much to Yve’s obvious embarrassment.
‘My son wants to get something beautiful for his girlfriend with a little bit of razzle dazzle for Valentine’s Day,’ she says.
Ever the professional, Yve pushes past the palpable awkwardness of the situation and helps the pair pick out of a few options.

Narrowing things down to a saucy leopard print number and a revealing ribbon two-piece, Kelly gives Matt her final opinion.
‘I do like the cheetah, I think it’s beautiful. It’s spicy, elegant, so I don’t think we’ll have any problems,’ she says, as Yve tries to keep a straight face.
‘I’ve been in business for 13 years, and I do not have a lot of mothers and sons shopping for lingerie in my store. That’s really weird to me,’ Yve gasps.
Opting for the other garment instead, Matt’s attention is soon drawn to a sexy, silky bathrobe to go with it, completing the look for Kim.
‘Oh that’s nice, she would love that,’ Matt says.
Without missing a beat, Kelly chimes in, saying: ‘I would love that. I’m kind of her size, I can see me wearing that too.’
Oblivious to Yve’s look of horror, Matt decides to buy two of the same bathrobe: one for his girlfriend Kim, and one for his mother Kelly.

‘I don’t know about the mother and the girlfriend wearing the same robe. I mean, I’m not a therapist or psychologist but that’s going to be an issue I think,’ Yve says in disbelief.
While waiting for his three purchases to be gift wrapped, Matt takes the opportunity to express his commitment to Kelly to his mother, admitting he’s thinking of popping the question.
‘I think we can think about it. When’s it going to happen?’ Kelly asks, with a face like thunder. ‘I mean, fairly soon. I’ve been thinking of looking at rings. Kim found a ring at Tiffany’s that she likes,’ Matt replies.
Thinking things over, Kelly is interrupted by Yve, who bravely gives her thoughts on the matter.
‘Hey, as long as your son is happy, you will be happy, and as long as his wife is happy, he will be happy,’ she says, as Kelly frowns. ‘But the number one is going to be his wife now.’
Sensing the tension in the room increase, Yve runs around the counter to give Kelly as hug.
‘Come here, I’m sorry, but she’s going to be number now.’
Upon leaving the shop, Kelly’s annoyance at Yve is clear as she says: ‘I think the sales woman should mind her own business. I mean, the nerve!’
