Love Island’s Lucinda Strafford claimed she’d split with her footballer ex Aaron Connolly before entering the villa.

But the 21 year old has now been spotted getting close to the Premier League star in Surrey after a shopping trip in London.

The couple reportedly decided to stay close after their split, with Aaron – a £1m-a-year Brighton & Hove footballer – looking after Lucinda’s pet dog at home as she locked lips with Brad, Danny and (a different chap called) Aaron on the show.

An insider told The Sun that Lucinda and Aaron “argued” about her going on the reality show, which she hoped would help her online fashion boutique take off.

A source who saw the pair told The Sun: “I am certain that they have been together the whole time that she was on Love Island, she wasn’t trying to keep a low profile and didn’t seem fussed about them being seen together.”

Dating coach Hayley Quinn says: “Lucinda wasn't short of male attention in the Love Island villa, but on exiting the villa she plumped for neither of her villa romances (sorry Brad and Aaron).

“Perhaps it was that he was so familiar? That she found that no love islanders compared to her connection to him? Or, being more cynical, that Love Island was a grasp for fame.

“But remaining part of a Love Island power couple can be very lucrative: people may not be as interested in Lucinda's hometown boyfriend, as they would be if she recoupled with Brad on the outside.

“Perhaps then Lucinda is looking to reconnect with someone she knows and trusts, rather than being motivated by fame.”

So is Love Island really about finding love for the singletons?

Hayley suggests: “When Love Islanders' lives are plunged into celebrity status, it may feel reassuring to go back to someone who liked you before you were famous.”

We’ve found more islanders who appeared to return to their exes after the show…

Abi Rawlings

Tattooed beauty Abi Rawlings tried and failed to find love with Toby Aromolaran this summer.

And just two weeks after the show’s finale, she is back with her ex.

Abi revealed on FUBAR Radio that she’d been thinking of her ex while in the villa.

“He was actually the first person I messaged once I got my phone back. I didn’t find love in the villa but it’s fine, it was waiting back home for me.”

Shannon Singh

Shannon Singh, 22, was dumped from the villa just 48 hours into this year’s show.

The influencer from Fife had little time to find love in the sun but two months on, she’s back together with her ex, DJ Ben Stirling.

The pair had reportedly been dating last year and split ahead of Shannon’s Love Island appearance.

Shannon and Ben are already Insta official, showing off their love in a gorgeous sunset snap.

Dani Dyer

EastEnders’ star Danny Dyer was the famous face of the family until his daughter Dani entered the Love Island villa.

She stole our hearts and won the 2018 show with Jack Fincham, but the romance didn’t last.

The pair split soon after and Dani returned to old flame Sammy Kimmence, a private broker from Essex.

They welcomed baby Santi together in February, but Sammy was jailed for fraud and a shocked Dani cut ties.
