A MUM-to-be was wrongly told by doctors her unborn baby had died in the womb, before scans revealed her son was alive.
Hannah Cole, 26, was admitted to Bradford Royal Infirmary in October after she experienced some unexpected bleeding while she was 22 weeks pregnant.
After some scan doctors revealed the "absolutely devastating" news that they could not detect a heartbeat and her baby had passed away.
However, Hannah, from Bradford in West Yorkshire, said a "gut feeling" had forced her to ask for a second ultrasound scan as she lay distraught in her hospital.
And the expectant mum was stunned when medics then revealed the news that in fact her baby was still alive.
"I knew deep down that he was still there because I could still feel movements – I was absolutely devastated when they told me at first," she said.

"To be told different things in the space of a week has made my mind boggled. It's been very stressful.

An investigation has now been launched at the hospital.

Why you might not hear baby’s heartbeat
Not hearing your baby’s heartbeat can be scary, but in many cases it’s nothing to worry about
Most commonly, this is because it’s too early in the pregnancy.
Other reasons you might not hear the heartbeat include:
- having a tipped uterus
- having a large abdomen
- being less far along than you thought
A Trust spokesman said that the hospital's priority is making sure Hannah and her unborn son receive 'appropriate clinical care' for the rest of her pregnancy.
Sarah Hollins, director of midwifery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "On behalf of the Trust, I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the distress and anxiety caused to Ms Cole regarding the treatment and care received during her current pregnancy.
