Holly Willoughby may no longer be appearing on our screens every day, but that doesn’t mean we’ll stop taking fashion and beauty inspo from the former This Morning presenter.
Recently, her makeup artistPatsy O’Neillshared a sneak peek at her makeup bag must-haves, and chose nine products that her makeup kit can’t be without.
Amongst the selection was a foundation stick that Patsy swears by for achieving Holly’s radiant, natural looking glow, revealing that she uses Merit’s The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick, £40 here, as a base for her makeup looks.
Writing about her foundation of choice over on Holly’sWylde Moon website , Patsy said: “When it comes to evening out skin tone, I always suggest a foundation stick, mainly because they’re quick and easy to use on-the-go. Unlike liquid foundations, they don’t drip and you can use as much or as little as you like, by layering up for a heavier coverage, or dabbing to hide blemishes or redness.”
Patsy also shared that the Merit The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick, £40 here, was her go-to foundation stick of choice as it’s easy to touch up on the go, as well as being breathable and lasting a long time.
However, she does also acknowledge that it’s a little pricy, and offers a much more affordable alternative for those wanting to replicate Holly’s natural glow.
Patsy’s affordable alternative comes in the form of Revolution’s Fast Base Stick Foundation, £3.59-£5.99 here, which she says “Comes in a huge range of colours, which is amazing and great value for money.”
She does say that the formulation is a little bit heavier than the Merit one, so if you’re wanting a lighter coverage you can loosen it up with some moisturiser, which is one of her top MUA tips.
To loosen up the consistency, simply apply your foundation stick whilst your moisturiser is still wet for a light, burred effect. The tip also works to help brighten up a foundation that’s a shade or two too dark, and you mix your foundation with your moisturiser on the back of your hand to lighten it and find the perfect shade for your skin.
If you want a natural blurred look without having to mix it up yourself, the latest drop from Fenty Beauty, the Eaze Drop Blur + Smooth Tint Stick, £28 here, gives an instant smoothing and blurring effect, and has a creamy, light formula that looks like a second skin.
Whichever one you opt for, it seems foundation sticks are the way to go this autumn thanks to their hydrating, creamy consistency that’s perfect brightening up dry, dull, autumnal skin.
