Greggs is launching five new items to their summer menu today – but there’s a catch. 

The bakery chain has added five thirst-quenching iced drinks in a variety of tasty flavours just in time for summer.

The new drinks, which cost £2.40, include a cloudy lemonade which is just 57 calories, a strawberry lemonade which has 69 calories, and a mango refresher which has 133 calories.

Meanwhile the branch is also releasing a tasty iced chocolate for 271 calories and iced mocha at 218 calories.

However the all-new refreshing drinks range will only be available at select shops across the country from today.

The cloudy lemonade and strawberry lemonade are refreshing pops of flavour poured over ice.

Meanwhile the mango drink is made with a sweet and fruity mango puree, topped with semi-skimmed milk before being served over of ice.

The iced chocolate is made with Fairtrade cocoa powder and poured over ice, before being topped with cream and sprinkles of Fairtrade chocolate powder.

The iced mocha made is made with a shot of freshly ground Fairtrade coffee, blended with semi-skimmed milk and cocoa powder then topped off with cream and chocolate powder dusting.

The news comes after fans were delighted to learn that the bakery chain introduced three new treats to its lunchtime menu.

Customers can now enjoy flatbread sandwiches with a brand new vegan offering for those who prefer a plant-based diet.

The Mexican Chicken Flatbread – seasoned with chipotle chilli sauce and completed with fresh salad leaves, mixed peppers and spiced mayonnaise – is available in shops across the country and contains 325 calories.

The menu also saw a Chicken Shawarma Flatbread and Vegan Tandoori Chicken-Free Flatbread introduced in selected stores nationwide.

All three new additions retail from £3.25 or from £3.60 as part of the cold sandwich deal.

The Chicken Shawarma flavour will be inspired by the street-food favourite and include sliced cucumber, fresh salad leaves and a dollop of mayonnaise for a fresh savoury kick. 

It contains 383 calories. 

Meanwhile, the Vegan Tandoori Chicken-Free Flatbread, boasting 363 calories, is Greggs’ latest plant-based offering, following the chain’s success with its vegan sausage rolls and steak bakes.

The meat-free snack will be sandwiched with cucumber, salad and a dollop of vegan tandoori mayonnaise and mango chutney.

The new selection offers the perfect portable lunch filled to the brim with a tasty variety of ingredients. 

It comes as the latest figures show Greggs is outperforming other food retailers on the high street, despite the cost of living crisis and soaring costs. 

The chain experienced a 17 per cent jump in sales amid seemingly insatiable demand for everything from old favourites such as sausage rolls to its new Vegan Mexican Chicken-free Bake.

Greggs, now worth a tasty £2.8billion, has seen its shares rise 13 per cent this year and nearly 600 per cent over the past decade.

It’s ‘nimble’ management team who react to consumer demand – such as a desire for more plant-based products – is said to be behind the brand’s success.  

However, last month the high street bakery left fans divided when it made changes to its menu.

The popular chain, known for shaking up its food choices, had introduced a new vegan steak bake.

Called the vegan Mexican chicken free-bake, it is made with vegan chicken-free pieces, mixed vegetables and Mexican style tomato sauce.

The chain also launched a new raspberry muffin which comes with a fruity centre and raspberry pieces.

Taking to Twitter, one referred to the vegan bake and wrote: ‘Nobody asked for this. Ever,’ while another wrote: ‘Vegan chicken free. I mean what’s the point?’ 

A third added: ‘Why not just vegetable? I’m a vegetarian and don’t like fake chicken?’ 

Another wrote: ‘Looks rubbish and I’m vegan,’ although they also confusingly then asked for a ham and cheese baguette. 

Another sarcastically wrote: ‘Can’t wait to not try this.’
