It's no secret that Love Island contestants have their phones taken off them as soon as they head to Mallorca, and while in the villa they have no contact at all with the outside world.
However, they are given a different phone to use during their stay in the iconic villa, which is most often used for producers to be able to contact them.
While Love Islanders can't scroll through Instagram or see what's happening in the news, they can text each other and receive messages from producers when there's about to be a plot twist – usually a recoupling or dumping.

They aren't given just any old handset either, as the show is usually sponsored by a popular brand with it previously partnering with Samsung in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Their new devices have special software installed on them which means they cannot make calls or texts to the outside world, or connect to the wifi in the villa.
They can text each other, and in previous years contestants have started up a group chat to make sure they can all stay up to date with the latest drama.
Love Islanders are also told to keep their phones on them at all times, so that bosses can drop a text on any person at any time, helping to keep the drama going.
The phones are also used by the Islanders to snap pictures of them and their new pals while in the villa, and the photos are often used on ITV and Love Island's social media accounts.
However, one thing which is uncertain is whether contestants get to keep their Love Island phones once they leave the villa.
While we know they get to hold onto their personalised water bottles, suitcases and other items, it hasn't yet been revealed if they get to keep their phones once they've left, but we doubt they'd be much use to them in the outside world.
With the 2022 series kicked off on 6 June, viewers saw the first text of the series be received by Davide Sanclimenti, who entered the villa as a bombshell towards the end of the show.
The 27 year old Italian turned heads as soon as he made his entrance, and after a steamy challenge which saw Gemma Owen give him a kiss, he received a text letting him know about an upcoming plot twist.
Davide was told that he has 24 hours to select a girl to couple up with, which means one of the boys will be left single at the first recoupling.
