M&S is selling Queen and Corgi caterpillar cakes

The Platinum Jubilee is fast-approaching and it seems everywhere we turn there’s a new regal treat to celebrate.

But now we have another one to add to the list.

M&S has given their Connie the caterpillar cake a royal makeover, transforming her into a Queen for the occasion.

Not only that, but she comes with a sidekick cake: a Corgi, wearing a Union Flag cape.

Available in stores from today, May 17, the duo can be picked up for £10 ahead of the bank holiday celebrations.

The cakes come in the classic caterpillar cake formula – a chocolate sponge roll filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in a thick milk chocolate shell.

And it’s safe to say the announcement has gone down well with fans, as a picture of the edible duo on Instagram has already racked up more than 26,000 likes.

But this isn’t the only Jubilee-themed treat to hit the shelves, there are also some sweet Caramel Corgi Mousse Cakes, priced at £6 from M&S on the Ocado website.

They’re filled with a caramel blond chocolate mousse and salted caramel, on a crisp chocolate wafer base.

We are certain Her Majesty would approve.

But M&S isn’t the only supermarket laying on a novelty cake for the celebration, Morrisons has also brought out its own Corgi cake, named Clarence.

So whether you’re heading to a picnic or hosting a BBQ, these sweet treats will be the perfect addition to your Platinum Jubilee celebration.
