‘Tis the season to stuff your face with festive delights, and once again British bakery staple Greggs has launched its indulgent Festive Bake for a limited time only. To celebrate the pastry’s return, the Greggs Festive Bake Brunch has had runs in London and Manchester and will visit Newcastle on November 26. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to try the Christmas pastry myself for the very first time, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed.
As we arrived at the brunch we were greeted with fizz, and I was delighted to see gold Greggs pastries and sausage rolls adorned the venue’s walls.
The brunch hall had been decked out with Christmas lights and Greggs-themed decorations, and my plus one and I even got a photo in the Greggs sleigh!
We munched on cheese and onion crisps while we waited for our cocktails to arrive, a Greggs No-Aperol Spritz for me and a Gregspresso Martini for my guest.
My No-Aperol Spritz was light and citrusy, perfect for 11am, while I was reliably informed by my plus one that the Gregspresso Martini was definitely an upgrade on his usual morning coffee.
Other delights on offer included the Festive Fizz, the Sausage Roll Sour and the Sugar Strand Daiquiri.
While we waited for our Festive Bake Brunch to arrive, tables battled it out for a range of Greggs merch including flip flops and a £50 Greggs gift card.
We were all generously treated to a £5 gift card in our Greggs-themed crackers so we could purchase more Festive Bakes over the coming weeks!
When the grub arrived, we got stuck into the classic Greggs Sausage Roll, a national fan-favourite, Southern Fried Chicken Goujons and Potato Wedges with a selection of dips.

As somewhat of a sausage roll connoisseur, I say you can’t beat a Greggs and the ones offered to us at the brunch were as flakey and flavoursome as usual.
The Southern Fried Chicken Goujons were to-die-for, my only complaint being I could have done with three more!
The accompanying wedges were crispy and well-seasoned and paired well with what seemed to be a festive onion chutney.
But the crowning glory of the day was without a doubt the Festive Bake which I can’t believe I’d never sampled before the brunch.
Delicious crumb-topped pastry engulfs chicken, sage and onion stuffing and sweetcure bacon, and its creamy sage and cranberry sauce is the perfect mix of sweet and savoury.
My Greggs go-to is always the Steak Bake, but I’ll definitely be swapping it for the Festive Bake until Christmas arrives.

For non-meat eaters, the Vegan Festive Bake was also available along with turkey-free goujons and the Gregg’s Vegan Sausage Roll.
The Greggs Festive Bake retails for £1.80 and has 454 calories, while its vegan counterpart has 442 calories and retails for the same price.
After excellent performances from drag queen Samantha Stone and a sing-a-long, it was time for dessert. A selection of Pink Jammies, Milk Chocolate Cookies and Sweet Mince Pies were brought out on golden trays.
I was already quite stuffed by the time the sweet treats came out, but I bravely ploughed on and particularly enjoyed the biscuits. We were given bags to take our treats home with us and it was no hardship to polish off them off with a cup of tea in front of the telly later on.
I will look back at this brunch fondly as my sofa now has a brand new Festive Bake pillow which my plus one (rather shamelessly) won with his ‘sprinkler’ moves in a dance-off.
