Jaden Smith’s New Balance Vision Racer Sneaker Is Coming in Black and White!
New Balance and Jaden Smith teamed up to launch a vegan-leather sneaker, which some might see as purple but Jaden sees as Wavy Baby Blue. The 22-year-old artist and philanthropist worked hard on the Vision Racer, which launched globally on July 24, 2020, and just introduced two new colorways: black and white. With its partially recycled materials — the insole is made from recycled rubber and foam, and the upper with 60 percent recycled polyester — this shoe is heavily inspired by Jaden’s style and lifestyle. Jaden, who has long been a fan of New Balance’s X-Racer and Classic 1700 silhouettes, had a vision to create a contemporary sneaker with reflective details for nighttime skateboarding and performing.
“Shared values of transforming the status quo; staying true to oneself; giving back to community; and, respecting heritage while co-authoring a distinct future, are the foundation of the relationship between New Balance and Jaden Smith,” New Balance Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of Merchandising Chris Davis said in the brand’s press release for the shoe.
The candy-colored campaign imagery is, of course, just as striking and cool as Jaden himself, who posted pictures and videos of the design across his Instagram account. Keep reading to see all angles of the shoes, which will retail for $150 at New Balance, with white and black available on Jan. 29. Don’t miss the pixelated sole, which reads “Vision” across the bottom.
