A MCDONALD’S fan who believes he has the ultimate “Big Mac hack” has been shot down by foodies.
John Deau avoids forking out £4.59 for the iconic burger but building one himself with other items on the menu.
The dad purchases a cheeseburger and hamburger, adds lettuce to one and then builds the so-called Big Mac himself.
This costs a cool £2.38.
However, foodies have pointed out that his creation misses one crucial ingredient… Big Mac sauce.
John shared his money-saving hack on Tik Tok, recording himself building the burger through the McDonald’s self-service machines.

The video has totted up almost 300,000 views and a whopping 270 people took to the comments to weigh in.
One person said: “The Big Mac sauce is what makes it.”
A second echoed: “It's the sauce that makes it.
“Agreed it’s not worth the extra couple of quid, but it won't taste the same.”

Another described the hack as “like having cheese on toast with no cheese”.
Other viewers said John’s method wasn’t a hack because getting out of the car to order inside – rather than in the drive through – takes too much time.
But one woman suggested a way to bring the DIY burger even closer to the traditional Big Mac.
She penned: “Take out ketchup and mayo and add sandwich sauce!
“You missed it.
“It was at bottom when customising.”
John comically replied: “Dammit. That could have saved a whole lot of c****y comments.”
