Fashion fan reveals why you should NEVER trust high street store sizing – and people can't believe they didn't realise | The Sun

A FASHION fan has revealed why you should NEVER trust the sizing on the high street – and why you may be buying something different in every store.

Amiee claims that the reason sizes can vary so much is that stores change the labels, depending on whether they have enough stock.

Essentially, she states that if a store has too many size 12s and not enough 14s, they will simply change the labels on some of the 12s.

In a new reel, the content creator, known online as @amieelaura, said: “For any woman who dreads going shopping, you really need to know this because it saved me so much heartache.

“Did you know if a retailer doesn’t have enough sizes but has more sizes in another, they will just change the sizes?

“So let me explain.

“So for example, if they have fifty size 14s and they’ve got a hundred size 12s but they need 75 of each, they will put a 14 label on 25 size 12s."

During the 54-second video, Amiee is seen trying on two pairs of straight-leg trousers, one pair in black and one pair in khaki green.

While the black fit perfectly, the khaki appears to be a little tight around the leg and waist.

She continued: "So clearly this is what’s happened with this green pair because these trousers are exactly the same but just different colours.

“So Next, you really need to do better at this.”

Below the video, she added: “It’s a scam @Next please do better.”

Her claim attracted plenty of attention online, gaining more than 182 likes and 26,400 views.

In the comments, TikTok users shared their reactions, however many weren’t convinced, with one writing: “Deluded… it’s complete BS.”

“Not true,” another commented.

Amiee replied: “The two pairs of trousers I tried on are labelle the same size but are visibly different in size when worn. Just sharing my experience.”

A third added: “They don’t do this… there is however up to a tow inch leeway with stitching (remember real people are sewing these and you need to account for human error) so if you have a larger size that’s an inch smaller and a smaller size that’s an inch larger, they’ll look the same.”
