Instead, you’ll just need to raid your laundry stash and your kitchen.
To start, you simply need a single gel dishwasher tablet and an oven-proof dish – ideally with no cracks.

After placing the liquid tab in the dish, you’ll need to boil the kettle and add about 1 litre of boiling water into the oven proof tray.
With this step now complete, you can preheat your oven to 120°C, 100° Fan or gas mark 1 and place then dish into the oven.
If yours doesn’t have this setting, we suggesting putting the temperature as low as possible and leaving it for an hour – just remember to check on it though.
This should be enough time for the steam from the dishwasher tablet to degrease the oven, although you’ll need to give it a good rinse once it’s cooled.

For those who aren’t sold on this nifty cleaning hack, there is another reason you should test this Tiktok trend at home.
With most oven cleaning kits costing £4 or more, keeping your kitchen clean can quickly get expensive – especially as many kit can only be used once.
As many of us will have extra mouths to feed over Christmas, it’s easy to save time and money with this hack as multi packs of dishwasher tablets can cost as little as £1.35 for 16.
If you haven’t already done the math, it means you’d spend just 8p each time you wanted to clean the oven.
Unsurprisingly, this hack has gone viral on social media and users were keen to test the cleaning trick in their own kitchens.
One person even thanked the user for the hack, writing: “Thank you for sharing. I’m going to try this!”
Another added: “Worth a try as my self-cleaning oven does a poor job. Thanks!”
The comments continued to flood in, with others wondering whether the hack would also work on a microwave or an airfryer after seeing similar hacks online.
Some even suggested using lemons instead of the gel tablet for a more eco-friendly approach to the cleaning task.
“Just use water and a lemon. Works just as well and it’s cheaper,” added a third user.
However, another preferred a more traditional method when cleaning the oven.
“I use a brilo pad for the racks…give them a quick rub with that then in dishwasher. I don't use Mr Muscle or Oven Pride anymore,” they explained.
