Young Thug and Gunna Pay Inmates' Bonds in "Paid The Fine" Visual Featuring Lil Baby and YTB Trench

Young Thug and Gunna visited the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta to pay inmates’ bonds, also using that good deed to share a message via their “Paid The Fine” visual with Lil Baby and YTB Trench.

Directed by DrewFilmedIt, the music video “documents this emotional process and broadcasts a strong message on the necessity of people being given second chances and a way out of the system.” It begins with a news report of Thugger and Gunna’s visit, followed by some facts about the American criminal justice system that revealed that more than 412,000 individuals across the United States were being held in jail and could not afford to pay their bond. “…the ‘Paid the Fine’ video shines a light on the national issue through the lens of a local community, in hopes to raise awareness and encourage those who are able to help to do so,” a statement read.

The facility recently attracted local media attention after it was reported that over 2,900 incarcerated individuals — more than 400 over its maximum capacity — were being held there. Young Thug and his team worked with the district attorney’s office, lawyers, prosecutors and bond companies to pay the bonds for individuals who were being held on minor/petty offenses and did not have the financial capacity to be released. These individuals were then given home cooked meals as they were reunited with their families and loved ones.

“This is where we are from. We just woke up and went to the jail with the lawyer and you know DA’s and the prosecutors, you know, the bonding companies and just got as many people as we can out…” Thugger said. “It feels so good to the point where you start feeling that’s why God put me here. He put me here to do this.”

“Paid The Fine” appears on Young Thug and Young Stoner Life Records‘ latest compilation album Slime Language 2, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
