M. Night Shyamalan is back with the official trailer for his highly-anticipated psychological thriller, Old.
In the first teaser trailer, audiences are introduced to a family of four who begins their vacation on what appears to be an idyllic, secluded beach. However, the family begins to notice that the children are aging much faster than they should, sparking a race against time.
The film is based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters, and stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Alex Wolff, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung and Nikki Amuka-Bird. The film is produced, directed and written by Shyamalan himself. Since breaking into the thriller genre with iconic films The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, fans have been looking forward for the next big installment from the famed director.
In a statement, Shyamalan said, “It was so precarious to make the film at that time, and I decided to do it because that cast, I didn’t want to lose anyone, I didn’t want to lose one person, so I decided to go for it. It was risky to shoot it at that moment because it was hurricane season in the Caribbean. In fact, our sets got destroyed by a hurricane, and we built them up again, and we were very lucky that second time they stayed up.”
Old releases in theaters on July 23. Check out the trailer above.
