Wales Bonner and adidas Originals Reunite for '70s and '80s-Inspired Collection

London-based label Wales Bonner and adidas Originals have reunited for their fourth collaboration, once again looking to styles from the ’70s and ’80s. A particular point of influence comes from designer Grace Wales Bonner’s research into music and photography in Burkina Faso in this period, with the collection referencing the creative energy and individuality.

These influences are celebrated in the collection’s apparel, which includes athletic-inspired jacquard knitwear and a ’70s take on the adidas Track Top and Track Pants. The collection’s color palette is chosen to be bold and joyful, with “Primary Red” appearing alongside “Sun Yellow” and “Pale Pink.”

The same references and design approach continue to the footwear, with two versions of the adidas Country silhouette arriving in either black or brown colorways. Additionally, Wales Bonner has also revisited the WB Samba — a highlight of previous collaborations — for a red and white colorway, and another in white and green.

The collection has been captured in a campaign shot by Jalan and Jibril Durimel and styled by Tom Guinness. All of the Spring/Summer 2022 pieces will release on June 4 through adidas Confirmed and select retailers.
