While some artists stay away from proverbial ‘muses’ for inspiration, Victor Solomon has steadily built his art career by channeling his love for basketball. From early fandom to porcelain sculptures, custom courts to redesigning the top honors for the NBA, the Boston-born, Los Angeles-based artist views the game as an equal platform for culture and creativity.
Last month, Solomon released a Sunflower-filled iteration to his ever-evolving Vessel series of basketballs. For those who missed out on the drop, the artist has added two new sculptures that similarly play on the floral motif. Dubbed Home Court Hydrangeas Vessel, the sculptures come in a “Full” and “Halftime” size and feature a molded crystal basketball form with hand painted gold enamel seams and synthetic pale pink Hydrangeas embedment.
The “Full” iteration is available to purchase for $500 USD, while the smaller “Halftime” sculpture retails for $200 USD. Both sculptures are an edition of 100 and are now available on Literally Balling.
In case you missed it, Futura worked with the Noguchi Museum on a series of limited edition Akari lanterns.
