Vanessa Feltz reveals how Holly Willoughby consoled her over Rolf Harris horror

Vanessa Feltz has revealed how Holly Willoughby reached out to her after discussing being assaulted by Rolf Harris.

On Monday, June 5, Holly, 42, returned to This Morning for the first time since her former co-host Phillip Schofield announced his immediate resignation from ITV after admitting he lied about his relationship with a younger colleague.

Holly’s statement addressing the scandal was ridiculed by viewers, celebrities and was even torn to shreds by Harry Hill, 58, on Have I Got News For You.

Ex-This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has regularly hit out at Holly too on his GB News show.

Vanessa, 61, however, who is a regular on This Morning with Holly and was told about Phil’s affair live on her own TalkTV show, has stepped up to defend her colleague, proving how considerate she is.

‘She’s a really nice, good natured, kind, sweet person,’ Vanessa stressed.

‘She really is. For example, all of this was going on, and then Rolf Harris died.

‘I was asked about the fact [Harris] sexually assaulted me live on TV, and so I told the story again.

‘And then I got a message from Holly just saying, “Are you OK? It must be really hard for you to talk about it. Are you alright?”’

‘I said, “Of course I’m fine. You know it was a long time ago. In fact, I was even fine at the time – I was married with two kids, I wasn’t a child, I was perfectly able to deal with it. More to the point, how are you?”’

Vanessa said she was ‘honoured’ to call Holly her friend and just felt sorry for anyone ‘implicated’ by what’s happened.

Holly told This Morning viewers she felt ‘shaken, troubled and let down’ by her former co-hosts’ admission and subsequent resignation.

Since then she’s been joined by Josie Gibson, Alison Hammond, Craig Doyle and Dermot O’Leary taking Phil’s place.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
